Uzbekistan’s Foreign Policy after Karimov and its Reflections to Relations with Turkey

Uzbekistan’s foreign policy strategy seems to be changing after Karimov and this sometimes has led to overly enthusiastic optimism by some quarters calling these changes as ‘major’ or ‘remarkable’. It is necessary to analyze whether there are real changes in Uzbekistan foreign policy in terms of Uzbekistan’s relations with external powers, international institutions and the neighboring Central Asian republics. In this context, Turkish-Uzbek relations which have started to normalize after 25 years of bumpy relations is another important issue that needs to be analyzed.
